St Mary's C of E Primary School and Nursery Children's Charter
Our Head Teacher told us about the Children's Charter. She said that it was a great opportunity to encourage all the pupils in our school to be part of making a contribution to the curriculum review by Sir Jim Rose. The Charter also encouraged us to give our views on the current methods of teaching and learning in our school and how we would like our learning experiences to develop in the future. We mentioned Sir Jim Rose in our rap.

The school council wrote and performed their own rap. They also did an interview, which explained how the Charter was being developed. The rap was fun to do but it took time to get our words together. The interview was interesting it was like being real journalists.

How the Charter was put together
All the children in the school took part in the discussion, which was led by members of the school council who were the facilitators. They explained the project to the rest of the school. The school council liaised with the Learning Mentors who were the lead adults in the project. The children in school gave their views on how they wanted to present the Charter. This resulted in the school council producing and performing a rap, an interview, photographs and a scroll for the Charter.

The children were supported by staff with the technical aspects of the project.
